Pre-Star: Bridging the Gap from CanSkate to STARSkate
Pre-Star is a transitional program designed for skaters who have completed the upper levels of CanSkate and are ready to explore the next step—figure skating.
What is Pre-Star?
Pre-Star introduces skaters to the structure and environment of our STARSkate program, while continuing to build on the advanced skills taught in CanSkate. Skaters begin to learn more figure skating-specific elements in a small group setting and gradually adapt to being on the ice with other STAR-level athletes.
Why choose Pre-Star?
This program is ideal for skaters (and their families) who are curious about figure skating but aren’t quite ready to commit to full-time STARSkate. It offers a low-pressure, supportive environment where skaters can try out the sport, develop confidence, and determine if figure skating is the right fit for them.
More than just figure skating
Even if skaters don’t continue into competitive figure skating, the skills developed in Pre-Star—such as balance, coordination, edge control, and agility—translate well into other sports like hockey, ringette, and speed skating. It’s a well-rounded athletic foundation that supports future success on the ice and beyond.
What can you expect?
-
A blend of advanced CanSkate skills and introductory figure skating elements
-
Exposure to the STARSkate environment and coaching style
-
Encouragement, growth, and fun on and off the ice!
